Ingredients
1/4 cup vegetable oil
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1 medium onion, diced
1 pkg Pioneer® Country Gravy Mix
24 oz green beans, frozen
20 oz pimento cheese
3 oz french fried onions
This Green Bean and Pimento Cheese Casserole uses Pioneer Country Gravy Mix to create the rich, savory cream sauce that binds this Southern-inspired take on a classic casserole into one unforgettable side dish.
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Heat Oil in Pan
In a large saute pan, heat oil over medium-high heat.
- Sauté Onions and Mushrooms
Add onions and saute until golden brown. Add mushrooms and continue to saute until little liquid remains.
- Whisk and Add Gravy
In a separate container, whisk together 2 cups water and Pioneer Country Gravy Mix. Add mixture to the saute pan and bring up a simmer.
- Fold in Cheese and Beans
Fold in pimento cheese and green beans until an even consistency.
- Top with Fried Onions
Transfer mixture to a 13×9″ baking dish and evenly top with French fried onions.
- Bake Until Crispy
Bake mixture for 10 minutes or until crispy fried onions are golden brown.
